—               Most victims of physical and mental violence are between 10 and 25 years of age, 45% of the victims of sexual abuse

are younger than 18 years of age.

—               Men/ boys and women/ girls are equally affected by domestic violence.

Who are the victims?

—               Incidental victims (mostly once)

—                Repeated trauma victims

—                Dependent victims (negative self image, low self esteem)

—                 Psychologically agressive victims (induce violence by harassing, verbally stronger than the victim)

—               Drug- Alcohol dependent victims

—                 Borderline victims (sometimes even agressive)

—               40% Of the children who witness domestic violence will develop (behaviour and psychological) problems

—               As violence against the mother becomes more severe and frequent in the home, children experience a 300% increase

in physical violence by the male batterer.

—               The potential for victimized parents abusing their children

—             The rate of child abuse by mothers who were victimized was twice as high as that of mothers whose husbands did not assault them

 —               If the mother is not safe neither are the children.
